Cory Buckner is in his first year at the University of Louisville as the academic counselor for football. Prior to coming to Louisville, Buckner spent two years working at Tennessee State as the academic counselor/academic coordinator for all sports.

Buckner was responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Tennessee State Athletic Academic Services Department.

As a graduate assistant at Indiana, Buckner served as a graduate instructor for the Center for Student Leadership Development, his primary duty was to teach leadership courses to student-athletes as well as underrepresented students. He also did his practicum in Athletic Academic Services while at IU. Primary responsibilities were: monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, assisting in CHAMPS/Life Skills programming, as well as data collection/analysis for various surveys and research projects.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Buckner received his bachelor's degree in 2004 from Indiana and went on to obtain is masters degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana, as well in 2006.
