The University of Louisville men's basketball team will be one of 11 schools featured during "ESPNU Midnight Madness," a four-hour program which will air on Oct. 14 from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. ET on ESPNU.
The Cardinals will have a Red-White intrasquad scrimmage in the KFC Yum! Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, the first official day of practice for college basketball.
U of L is also one of seven sites that will be featured live on ESPN3.com. WHAS-TV in Louisville will air the first hour of the event from 7-8 p.m., with the remainder of the intrasquad scrimmage being featured statewide on Wazoo Sports.
Ranked teams from ESPN's Andy Katz's preseason Top 25 that will be featured live on ESPN3 include No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 4 Syracuse, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Connecticut, No. 9 Louisville and No. 20 Texas A&M. Additional team spotlights with coach interviews will occur on ESPNU from No. 3 Ohio State, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Memphis, No. 10 Arizona, No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 12 Florida, as well as New Mexico and UCLA.
Tickets for the scrimmage, priced at $10 for lower arena seats and $5 for upper arena seats, are currently on sale at both U of L Ticket Offices, located near Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium off Floyd Street; and on the third floor of the Swain Student Activities Center. Both locations are open weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The Cardinals will also have a second public scrimmage on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in concert with U of L's "Return to the Nest" Homecoming on Main festivities, which will include activities on the Norton Healthcare Plaza of the KFC Yum! Center prior to the game. Tickets are the same prices for that event.
Cardinal fans may also purchase tickets by visiting Ticketmaster online, calling 1-800-745-3000 or by visiting any Ticketmaster Ticket Center, including statewide Kroger locations. U of L will welcome back three starters and 10 lettermen from its 2010-11 squad, as well as adding a stellar recruiting class for the upcoming season. The Cardinals exceeded expectations last season by tying for third in the BIG EAST Conference, earning 20 wins for their ninth-straight season (25-10 record), reaching the title game of the BIG EAST Championship, defeating seven Top 25 teams and rising to as high as 11th in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls.
