TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Louisville men's basketball team faces an already challenging slate as it enters its inaugural season in the ACC. That slate isn’t any easier out of conference with Thursday's addition of Ohio State as part of the 2014 ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The ninth meeting in series history between the two programs is scheduled for Dec. 2 in the KFC Yum! Center. Time and network for the conference will be announced at a later date.

ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU will combine to televise all 14 games of the three-day event matching top college basketball programs playing for conference supremacy and the Commissioners Cup. All 14 games will also be available via WatchESPN.

Louisville is 3-2 against Ohio State at home, with the overall series tied at 4-4.

Louisville last faced Ohio State on Jan. 4, 2003, beating the Buckeyes 72-64 in overtime at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Cardinals fought back from a 14-point deficit at the half, outscored the Buckeyes 39-25 in the second, and then beat Ohio State 15-7 in the overtime session.

Bryant Northern led the Cardinals with 18 points off the bench, and Reece Gaines added 14. Brent Darby tallied 24 to pace Ohio State, which had 18 turnovers and shot just 30.2 percent from the field for the game.

The ACC and Big Ten have split the past two events, winning six Challenge games each in 2012 and 2013. In the event of a tie, the Commissioner’s Cup remains with the conference that won the previous year, which was the Big Ten in 2011. The ACC won the first 10 Challenges (1999-2008), while the Big Ten won the next three (2009-11).

The Cardinals already have two other Big Ten opponents on their 2014-15 schedule. Earlier this year, ESPN announced Louisville and Indiana will meet in the 2014 Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 9 in Madison Square Garden in New York. In December, it was announced that Louisville and Minnesota are playing in the 2014 Armed Forces Classic from the Coast Guard base in Puerto Rico on Nov. 14.
