AMELIA, OHIO - The University of Louisville baseball team was unable to complete a weekend sweep at Cincinnati, as the Bearcats edged the Cards 5-4 Sunday.

The Bearcats(10-23, 4-11) took a 3-0 lead on a solo home run by Brad Doorman and a two-run single by Mark Muscenti in the fourth.

The Cards(21-12, 8-7) clawed back for a run in the fifth when Dave Williams Jr.'s sac fly plated Ryan McKinnon, and another run in the sixth on a solo home run by Mark Jurich.

Down 3-2 in the eighth, Williams singled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a sacrifice by Boomer Whiting and a ground out by J.T. LaFountain.

Josh Bolen stepped to the plate and ripped a single to center, tying the game at one. After a walk to Jurich, Bolen scored on an RBI single by Ron Braun, giving the Cards a 4-3 advantage.

But that lead would be short lived. A one-out walk and a single put two runners on for Drew Saylor, who double to the gap in right, plating two and putting the Bearcats on top for good.

Mike Eilers (3-3) took the loss, tossing 3.1 innings and allowing two runs on three hits ad two walks, striking out a pair.

Chase Cruse, the Cardinal starter, surrendered three runs on a walk and five hits, also fanning two in four innings.

Griffin Bailey gave up two hits, striking out the only batter he retired, while Brian Halford also K'd the only man he faced.

UC reliever Nick Buscemi (1-1) picked up the win, striking out one in 1.1 innings of relief.

Bolen and McKinnon each had a pair of hits for the Cards.

The Cards remain on the road, returning to Cincinnati on Wednesday to face Xavier 3:00 p.m. and to Kannapolis, North Carolina for a weekend series against Charlotte starting Friday at 1:00 p.m.
