LOUISVILLE, KY - Ron Braun and Zach Jackson lifted the University of Louisville baseball team to a 5-1 win over South Florida Saturday, giving the Cards the first two games of the series. Louisville (15-8, 5-3) will look for the sweep Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.

South Florida (17-10, 3-3) gained a 1-0 lead when Bryan Hierlmeier's sacrifice fly plated Mike Choquette in the third.

Louisville finally broke through in the sixth. Josh Bolen singled, and one out later, Braun drilled a pitch deep into the seats in right field for a 2-1 Cardinal lead and his first home run of the season.

Later in the inning, singles by Greg Taylor and Boomer Whiting and a walk to Nick Haley loaded the bases for Dave Williams Jr. The senior center fielder ripped a single to left, scoring two more and giving the Cards a 4-1 lead.

Bolen then lead off the seventh with a double and was plated on a single to right by Morgan Bojorquez for the final margin.

Jackson (2-3), allowed just one run, scattering eight hits and a walk over 7.1 innings for the win. He struck out four.

Senior Carlos Fernandez allowed just a single over the final 1.2 innings to seal the win.

Bulls starter John Uhl(4-2), who was 2-0 against the Cards, was touched for five runs on nine hits and three walks in seven innings while striking out five and taking the loss.

Bolen was 3 for 3 with a walk and two runs while Taylor added two hits for the Cards.
