LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 21st-ranked Louisville baseball team's series-opener against Cincinnati on Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium was halted in the seventh inning due to lightning and will be resumed on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., ET.

The Cardinals were leading 9-1 with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning when play was stopped at 7:55 p.m., due to nearby lightning. After continued lightning and heavy rain, the decision was made at 9:15 p.m., to resume play on Saturday afternoon. The series-opener will resume at the same point it was halted (with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning) and will be completed in its entirety before Saturday's previously scheduled game will begin.

The Cardinals used an eight-run first inning to take early command of Friday's game, while junior righty Justin Amlung pitched seven strong innings allowing only one run on six hits while matching a career-best nine strikeouts before the game was halted.
