Louisville Baseball 2012 Summer League Assignments

Cardinals have 25 players scheduled to compete in six different summer leagues around the nation

2012: Redshirted and did not see game action.

High School: Played four seasons of baseball for coach Joe Cardinale at Montville Township High School. Earned All-State and All-County honors and was named team MVP as a senior. Also named to All-Academic Team and member of National Honor Society. As a senior, hit .536 with seven home runs, 31 RBI, 14 doubles, 46 runs scored and 30 walks. Hit .450 as a junior after hitting .435 with five home runs as a sophomore.

Personal: Born Ryan William Karl on Oct. 21, 1992 in New Brunswick, N.J. Son of Brian and Susan Karl. Has one sibling, Devin. Undecided on major at the University of Louisville. After college, he plans to play professional baseball and be an entrepreneur. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career was his father because baseball is his passion and he taught him the importance of a good work ethic. Hobbies and outside interests include playing video games, working out, basketball, football and fishing. Favorite movies are Billy Madison and Anchorman. Favorite TV show is South Park. Favorite athletes are Josh Hamilton and Dwight Howard. Favorite cereal is Fruity Pebbles and favorite candy bar is Hershey's Cookies `n' Crème. Favorite foods are pasta and chicken and favorite restaurant is Dino's Pizzeria. Favorite teams are the New York Mets and New York Jets. Enjoys listening to rap, hip hop, R&B and country music. If he could have dinner with three people, he would invite Josh Hamilton, Will Ferrell and John Belushi. His father Brian was a pitcher (Single A) in the Milwaukee Brewers farms system.
