Summer 2012: Was 4-0 with 47 strikeouts in 42.0 innings pitched and a 2.79 ERA in eight appearances and seven starts for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League. Had nine strikeouts in 6.0 shutout innings to earn the victory against Hyannis on Aug. 5.
2012: Was 5-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 46.1 innings pitched. Made 22 total appearances, including six starts. Allowed only one run on four hits with three strikeouts in 5.0 innings to earn his fifth win of the season in Cards' BIG EAST first round win over Pitt. Earned his fourth win of the season allowing one run on one hit during a staff outing on May 15 against Morehead State. Matched a career-high with five strikeouts and allowed only an unearned run in 5.0 innings in a no-decision at WKU on May 1. Making first start of the season, allowed only one run on two hits in 3.0 innings to earn his third win of the season in Cards' April 24 win over No. 1 UK. Pitched 4.0 perfect innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn his second win of the season on April 17 at Indiana. Came out of the bullpen for 2.0 innings of shutout relief in April 14 win over Seton Hall. Pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts, a walk and no hits on April 7 at Georgetown. Made a pair of scoreless relief appearances in series win over Villanova. Struck out the side in order in a perfect inning of work against Wildcats on March 30. Pitched an inning of shutout relief against Ohio State on March 20. Allowed one earned run and two total runs on two hits with a season-high four strikeouts in 3.0+ innings of relief against East Carolina on March 11. Pitched a scoreless inning of relief against Indiana on March 6. Came out of the bullpen for 2.0 shutout innings of relief including a season-high three strikeouts against Pepperdine on March 3. Struck out the only two batters he faced in less than an inning of relief against Eastern Illinois on Feb. 28. 2011: Was 1-2 with a 1.93 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 21 appearances, including two starts. Allowed only two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings in just the second start of his career in the Cardinals' win over St. John's in the BIG EAST Championship. Came out of the bullpen for 1.0 inning of scoreless relief against No. 1 Vanderbilt. Provided career-best 5.2 innings of shutout relief with career-high five strikeouts on May 5 at Seton Hall. Pitched 3.1 innings of shutout relief in U of L's May 1 win over Georgetown. Came out of the bullpen for 3.0 innings of scoreless relief with a career best three strikeouts. Pitched 2.0 innings of shutout relief against USF on April 22. Was saddled with second loss of the season after allowing just one earned run on one hit in 2.1 innings of relief against Indiana on April 19. Pitched 2.0 innings of shutout relief at St. John's on April 15. Suffered first loss of his career after allowing one earned run and five total runs on three hits at WKU on April 5. Threw a pair of shutout innings of relief against WVU on April 2. Pitched 3.0 shutout innings of relief in Cards' March 22 win over Kent State. Has his career-opening scoreless streak ended at 9.0 innings after allowing two runs on one hit in less than an inning of relief at USC on March 16. High School: Green, who was selected in the 37th Round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, was a three-time All-Conference selection, a two-time All-Area honoree and was an All-State selection as a senior for Effingham High School and head coach Chris Fleener. As a senior, he was 9-2 on the mound with a 1.65 ERA and 107 strikeouts for Effingham's regional title winning team. He was named as his team's MVP and Cy Young winner as a junior with a 9-2 record on the mound with a 2.33 ERA, one save and 107 strikeouts as Effingham won another regional title. As a sophomore, he was 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA, one save and 44 strikeouts. He participated in the 2009 World Wood Bat Association World Championship and he played summer baseball for the St. Louis Pirates. He also earned three letters in basketball at Effingham HS.
Personal: Born Chad Keith Green on May 24, 1991, in Greenville, S.C. Son of Howard and Sheena Green. Has a twin brother, Chase, older sister, Lynsie and older brother, Blake. Majoring in sport administration at the University of Louisville. After graduation, he plans to play professional baseball. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his dad, who always pushed him hard in everything he did. Hobbies and outside interests include playing sports and hanging out with friends. Favorite movies are The Hangover, The Blind Side and Superbad. Enjoys watching SportsCenter and That `70s Show. Favorite athletes are Ken Griffey, Jr., and Grant Hill. Favorite cereal is Lucky Charms. Favorite candy bar is Kit Kat. Favorite food is fettuccini Alfredo.
