High School: Played four seasons at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass., for coach Wayne Hancock. Earned All-State and All-League honors while playing for the Penguins. As a senior, he hit .388 with four home runs, 36 RBI, 10 doubles and 22 walks while throwing out 11 of 18 baserunners behind the plate as Cushing won the New England Prep School championship. As a junior, he hit .330 with 24 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven doubles.
Personal: Born on May 15, 1992 in Lansing, Mich. Son of Joel and Susan Gershenfeld. Has one brother, Gabe. Majoring in sport administration at the University of Louisville. Biggest thrill in sports came as threw out the potential game-winning baserunner at second base in the final inning of the New England title game. After college, he hopes to eventually work in a Major League Baseball front office. Person with the greatest influence on his career was his prep coach Wayne Hancock who always told him to be confident in his abilities. Favorite movie is Mystery Team. Favorite TV show is Entourage. Favorite athlete is Ivan Rodriguez. Favorite cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch and his favorite candy bar is Snickers. Enjoys eating Subway. Favorite team is Cleveland Indians. Enjoys listening to any and every kind of music. If he could have dinner with three people, he would invite Johnny Bench, Theo Epstein and Manny Ramirez.
