2002: Posted a 3-0 record, while pitching in 12 games, seven of which were starts. Opponents hit .264 off of Eilers. Picked up his second win of the season in a strong effort against nationally ranked Oklahoma State(3/20) in which he went 5.1 innings, his longest outing of the year, allowing two runs on four hits while fanning five. Was 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA at home. Opened the season with three perfect innings of relief work against Vanderbilt(2/24), striking out three.
2001: Posted a 6-3 record with a 5.52 ERA, taking the hill 16 times, 11 as a starter. Had a solid outing against Hawai’i(2/9), twirling 7.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out five. Won back-to-back starts against Western(3/21) and Eastern(3/27), surrendering just one earned run on 13 hits and five walks while striking out 11, going 7.0 against EKU and the distance against the Toppers. Had a solid outing in relief in the conference tournament win over Houston(5/18) going 5.1 frames, and giving up one unearned run on four hits to go with a strikeout to pick up the win. Gave up one of fewer runs in seven appearances. Again spent the summer in the NECBL with the Danbury Westerners.
2000: Eilers made 11 appearances and started five games in his first season of college baseball. Did not give up an earned run in three of his outings. Lead the team in ERA(3.46) and opponents batting average(.233) during conference play. Pitched 2.1 innings against Austin Peay(3/14), giving up only one hit to go with a strikeout. Played summer ball for the Danbury Westerners with a 3-2 record and 4.56 ERA.
High School: A two-year letterwinner in basketball and baseball at Butler H.S. in Louisville. Named to the all-state team, and played in the state and regional all-star games as a junior and senior. Took part in the ‘98 East Coast Professional Showcase. Had a 7-3 record and a 2.17 ERA as a junior and a 9-2 record with a 1.58 ERA as a senior. Struck out 137 batters in those two seasons, also notched three saves.
Personal: Born 1/25/81 in Louisville. Is majoring in physical education. Requires size 15 spikes. Enjoys basketball, golf, waterskiing and wakeboarding in his spare time. He has been waterskiing since he was five years old. Favorite movie is Rounders, favorite teams are the Red Sox and the Rams. Once jumped off a 40-foot cliff into Rough River Lake. Dream golf foursome would be Jim Carrey, Tiger Woods and his dad-”So I could still laugh while getting beat by 30 strokes.”
