Came out of the bullpen for 2.1 innings of shutout relief at UConn on May 13. Had 1.0 shutout inning of relief against Vanderbilt on May 10. Pitched 2.0 innings of shutout relief against EMU on May 4. Allowed one earned run on three hits in 1.1 innings of relief at Kentucky on April 26. Pitched a scoreless inning of relief at Cincinnati on April 10. Allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts in 2.0 innings of relief against WVU on April 1. Bounced back from tough outing a week earlier with 1.0 inning of shutout relief against Kent State on March 22. Had worst outing of his young career on March 16 allowing five runs on three hits and four walks in 2.0+ innings to drop his second straight outing. Allowed one earned run and four total runs on just one hit with three walks and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings to earn his first loss against Purdue on March 8. He equaled the most strikeouts for a Louisville pitcher in a career debut since Gabriel Shaw struck out seven in his college debut on Feb. 23, 2008 against Cleveland State.
High School: Kime, who was selected in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, earned All-American, All-State and All-League honors during his career at Defiance High School, where he was coached by Tom Held. As a senior he was 7-1 on the mound with a 1.31 ERA and 108 strikeouts after being named a Preseason Louisville Slugger All-American. As a junior, he was a First Team All-State selection, the No. 5 rated prospect in Ohio and was the 2009 Western Buckeye League Co-Player of the Year after finishing with a 9-0 record, a 0.70 ERA and 105 strikeouts on the mound. He attended the Perfect Game National Showcase, the East Coast Showcase in Lakeland, Fla., and the Area Codes in Long Beach, Calif. As a sophomore, he was 10-1 with a 0.66 ERA and 65 strikeouts. He pitched multiple no-hitters at the prep level and had a personal best 16 strikeouts in a game as a junior. He departed as the career leader at Defiance in ERA and opponents' batting average on the mound as well as RBI and doubles at the plate. He played summer baseball for the Lake Erie Bulldogs and fall baseball for the Midwest Redbirds. He also lettered in basketball and football at Defiance.
Personal: Born Dace Jamison Kime on March 6, 1992, in Fort Wayne, Ind. Son of Heather Parrish and Jay Kime. Has four siblings, Kendyl, Daykota, Nicole and Josh. Majoring in exercise science at the University of Louisville. After college, he plans to play professional baseball. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his brother, who pushed him to be better than everyone regardless of factors he can't control.
