2000: Castellvi was third on the team in appearances this past season with 23 out of the bullpen. Put together three consecutive scoreless outings earlier in the season without walking a man, picking up the victory against Miami(OH)(3/12). Had six appearances without giving up a hit, 14 without surrendering a walk. Against Saint Louis(4/22), tossed 4.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and no walks to go with three strikeouts.
1999: Appeared in 20 games, starting seven for the Cards his sophomore campaign. Lead the team in ERA at 3.34, and is ninth all-time on the career list in that same category at 4.92. Did not allow a baserunner in his first five outings, striking out six in 4.1 innings. Pitched eight innings against Austin Peay (4/20), giving up three runs and fanning four in his first win of the year. “Cheech” pitched a solid 7.1 innings in the conference tourney allowing two earned runs with five K’s in U of L’s 5-2 loss vs. Southern Miss (5/21).
1998: Pitched in 8.1 innings as a true freshman, striking out six. Appeared in five games, going 0-1.
High School: Played baseball and basketball for the H.B. Plant H.S. Panthers in Tampa, Florida. Named all-Western Conference and Team Florida. Was 5-3 with a 1.32 ERA and 91 strikeouts. Tossed one no-hitter.
Personal: Born 1/31/79 to Dr. Antonio and Mrs. Ramona Castellvi in Tampa. Majoring in Business Management. Attended same high school as Wade Boggs. Enjoys salt water fly fishing and skydiving. Dream golf foursome would be Jerry Garcia, fisherman Jose Wejebe and his grandfather. After college he wants to go to Disney World.
