2005: Took the mound 29 times, the second-highest total in school history. Had a team-leading 2.59 ERA to go with a 4-1 record and his first two career saves. Opponents hit just .236 against the Cards' primary setup man. Twirled three scoreless innings against UAB (5/20). His scoreless seventh was part of a shutout of Evansville (5/17). Nailed down his fourth win of the season with 2.0 innings of work at Charlotte(5/6). Earned the win over USM with 2.2 innings of relief, allowing an unearned run(5/1). Worked 1.2 scoreless against USM(4/30a). Struck out two in a scoreless ninth against MSU(4/27) to earn his second save. Earned his first career save at Xavier (4/20), tossing an inning and two-thirds of one-hit ball. Pitched two scoreless innings in the win at Houston (4/9), striking out two. Notched a 1-2-3 12th to seal 9-4 win at WKU (4/5). Tossed three scoreless innings of one-hit ball against USF(4/3b) fanning four. Allowed a run on two hits in three innings of work in the Louisville wins over #1 Tulane. Tossed a hitless inning in win over UC(3/20b). Wove three scoreless in win over UC(3/18), allowing just one hit and striking out one. Was stellar out of the pen, twirling 4.2 scoreless innings, scattering four hits and two walks, while fanning two in earning the win over #12 Georgia (3/13). Permitted just a lone baserunner in two innings of relief against Miami (3/6b). Worked a scoreless seventh against Toledo (2/27). Twirled a perfect eighth, striking out two to pick up the win over Kent (2/19). Tossed another 2.1 innings in final game of the Kent series, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk in 2.1 frames.

2004: Was 3-3 with a 4.62 ERA in 17 outings. Notched win number three, working the final two innings of the dramatic, come-from-behind win at USF(5/22). Closed out the win at USF(5/20) with two flawless innings, fanning two. Earned his second win of the season with an inning and two-thirds of perfect ball, fanning one Cougar(5/15). Went a career-long 7.2 innings, fanning a career-high eight Musketeers(4/21). Allowed a hit in 1.1 scoreless frames against Memphis(4/2). Tossed 1.1 scoreless in win over UC(3/27). Earned a win over Murray(3/16) with two perfect innings, striking out two.

2003: Logged four strong innings in win at Eastern Kentucky(5/13), allowing a run of four hits and no walks, fanning three. Picked up his first collegiate win, throwing three innings and allowing a run on a hit to go with two strikeouts at Memphis(3/15). Pitched a scoreless inning in win over WKU(3/11). Made his collegiate debut, tossing a hitless eighth inning in the Cards 3-2 game one win over Northern Illinois(2/22). Tossed three strong innings of relief against UNC Asheville(2/28), allowing just one hit and striking out three to help preserve a one-run lead. Made the AD Honor Roll.

High School: Lettered twice while playing first base, outfield and pitching for the Lexington Catholic High School. Earned All-City honors, while also being named to the Regional and Sectional All-Tournament teams. The Knights won the KHSAA State Championship his freshman year. His junior season, he was 7-2 with a 2.10 ERA and went 6-2 with an ERA of 2.00.

Personal: Born 9/19/84 in Lexington, Kentucky to Tim and Karen Bailey. Is a business major at U of L. Would like to be an accountant. His dad is the greatest influence on him athletically. His older brother Kevin was an offensive lineman at the University of Virginia. Attended same high school as New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman. His biggest thrill in sports was winning the KHSAA baseball championship in 1999. In his spare time "Griff" likes to sleep, eat, play cards and RUN THE LOOP. Gladiator is his favorite movie. Lists Sopranos as his favorite TV show. Muhammad Ali is his favorite athlete and Reds and Bengals are his favorite teams. His favorite foods are steak and potatoes. His dream dinner guest would be his grandfather, Babe Ruth and Jesus. He can clap with one hand.
