2011: Redshirted in his first season with the Louisville baseball program.

High School: Alphin earned First Team All-State honors and was named Sixth Region Player of the Year during junior and senior seasons at Bullitt East High School, where he was coached by Jeff Bowles. On the mound, he was 7-2 during his senior season after finishing 8-3 with a 2.95 ERA and 67 strikeouts as a junior. He was 7-2 with a 1.49 ERA and 74 strikeouts during his sophomore season. He was named Semi-State MVP and earned the win in the decisive third game with a complete game, three-hit shutout as Bullitt East made its first ever state tournament appearance. At the plate, he hit .477 with six home runs, 12 doubles and four triples as a senior. As a junior in 2009, he set new school records in RBI (62), doubles (21) and hits (62) while finishing with a .477 average overall and seven home runs. As a sophomore, he hit .378 with five home runs and 28 RBI. He has also earned three letters in basketball and one letter in football at Bullitt East.

Personal: Born Brandon McKay Alphin on March 6, 1992, in Louisville, Ky. Son of Corey and Kim Alphin. Has one younger sister, Madison. Majoring in justice administration at the University of Louisville. After college, he plans to play professional baseball. Person with the greatest influence on his athletic career is his dad, who always pushed him to be the best he can be. Hobbies and outside interests include playing pool, fishing, going to movies, golf and playing ping pong. Favorite movies are Law Abiding Citizen and Book of Eli. Enjoys watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, SportsCenter and That `70s Show. Favorite athletes are Alex Rodriguez, David Wright and Joba Chamberlain. Favorite cereals are Cap'n Crunch and Fruit Loops. Favorite candy bar is Snickers. Favorite foods are steak, pasta, chicken, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Enjoys eating at Outback and Olive Garden. Favorite teams are the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Enjoys listening to rap and country. Favorite quote is "Worry about your character and not your reputation, because character is what you are and reputation is what people think of you." If he could have dinner with three people, he would choose his dad, Mark Wahlberg, and Derek Jeter.
