Byrne, who is making his second career appearance on the national stage, has compiled one of the best seasons in school history.
He has finished in the top 20 in all six races this season. At the NCAA Southeast Regional, he broke the school record in the 10K en route to a 10th-place finish and all-region honors. Two weeks prior at the American Athletic Conference Championships, the redshirt junior set the school record in the 8K and won the individual conference title.
At the 2010 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Byrne was the Cardinals' No. 3 scoring runner, finishing 115th in a time of 31:32.
Kibet, only a sophomore, also has registered a remarkable season in five meets, finishing in the top 15 in four of those meets.
In addition to earning all-conference honors with a second-place finish at the AAC Championships, he secured all-region honors by placing 11th at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Virginia.
