CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Southern Mississippi had four finishers in the top 10 to win the Men's Conference USA Cross Country Championship. South Florida successfully defended their title to capture the women's event.
The Louisville men finished seventh with senior Kell Griffin finishing 14th with a time of 24:57 in the 8,000 meter run. Mark Biros finished 24th with a time of 25:28. Paul Kemei of Southern Miss won the individual title with a time of 24:01.0. He finished just ahead of teammate Yousri El Mejdoubi (24:01.5).
The Louisville women finished ninth with top runner Kim Shore finishing 33rd with a time of 18:32.5 in the 5,000 meter run. Teammate Alison Bradford finished 39th with a time of 18:42.2. Tulane's Hanne Lyngstad wont the women's individual title with a course record of 16:42.2. She was followed by UNC Charlotte's Kelly Travis with a time of 17:38.7.
