Women Win, Men Finish Second At Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. - University of Louisville's women finished first and the men finished second in the U.S. Collegiate Track and Field series held in Richmond, Ky. The Louisville women won the meet with a score of 223 and the men finished second with a score of 159, behind Cincinnati.

Louisville senior Jen Carlsen won the long jump with a distance of 18'00.00. Angela Mula won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.18 and Kelly Faber finished second with a time of 1:05.25.

Freshman Randalene Sergent won the pole vault, clearing 11'00.00 and teammate Cindy Roberson finished second, clearing 10'06.00. Louisville's 4x400 meter relay team finished first with a time of 3:54.81.

Senior Delicia Haynes won the triple jump with a mark of 36'06.00. Sophomore Shola Kadiri won the shot put with a distance of 43'01.00 and Trish Young finished second with a distance of 38'03.50. Young also won the javelin throw with a distance of 131'08.00.

On the men's side, Louisville's Zek Parker won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.73. Parker also won the Long Jump with a mark of 22'09.00.

J.R. McCleney won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.86 and Jeremy Lewis won the javelin throw with a distance of 163'10.00.

"This meet was going to get some national exposure, being part of the Collegiate Track Series, so we put some focus on it," said Louisville head coach Gene Weis. "The women's win was a bit surprising, especially the margin."
