LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field program will host the annual Cardinal Invitational on Saturday, April 23 at the Cardinal Park Track Stadium on the U of L campus. The meet, which is the Cards' first and only home event in 2005, is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. EDT with the field events while the running events are set to begin at 1:45 p.m. EDT and admission is free.

"We're excited to be hosting our first home competition and to have the chance to compete in front of our local fans," said U of L head coach Ron Mann. "To have quality teams like Ohio State and Tennessee State committed to the meet will make for a very entertaining and competitive event."

The Cardinal Invitational will be one of many exciting events scheduled in the city of Louisville over the weekend.

"We're excited about this weekend and all of the tradition-rich events taking place in the city like Thunder Over Louisville and the Kentucky Derby Festival," said Mann. "And with the U of L spring football game set for Friday night, it should be another fun weekend for Cardinal fans."

Following this weekend's home meet, the Cardinal track and field teams will compete at the Butler Twilight on April 29-30 in Indianapolis, Ind.
