EVANSTON, Ill. - The University of Louisville track and field teams finished the Georgia Invitational with two student-athletes achieving season bests and a total of 14 top-five finishes on Saturday in Athens, Ga.

Sprinter Calvin Arsenault clocked his fastest legal time of the year in the 110m hurdles, finishing the race second in 14.01. His wind-aided mark of 13.98 is the 19th-fastest time in the region. He later went on to win the 400m hurdles, an event in which he ranks 18th in the region.

Hannah Baker logged the other season best, registering a toss of 54.97m/180-4 in the hammer throw. It is nearly a one-and-a-half foot improvement from her previous best this year, putting her into third place in the competition. In the region, she moved into a tie for 48th.

Teammates Caitlin Gilmore and Patrice Gates finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women’s hammer throw.

On the men’s side, Nils Westrich finished fifth in the hammer throw competition. He currently sits at No. 29 in the region on the descending order list.

In the lone jumps event of the day, Chanel Krause placed second in the women’s pole vault after clearing 4.00m/13-1.50.

The Cardinals’ throwers concluded the meet in the discus. Steve Wade, who ranks 33rd in the region in the event, finished fifth, and Emmonnie Henderson and Baker took third and fifth, respectively on the women’s side. Henderson has the 35th-best throw in the region.



Louisville returns to action for its final meet of the year before the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, playing host to the Cardinal Twilight on Friday, May 16. Events at the throws field are scheduled for a 10 a.m. start, and the first competition at the track is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
