LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Eight top-10 finishes highlighted the University of Louisville track and field’s day at the Alabama Relays on Saturday at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Calvin Arsenault, who was coming off a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles on Friday, clocked a time of 14.22 in the 110m hurdles to log a third-place showing. The junior, who currently holds the school record in both events, wrapped up a solid indoor season that resulted with the AAC title in the 60m hurdles.

The Cardinals also received a top-finish from Rachel Pease, who made her collegiate debut in the 3,000m steeplechase. In running to a time of 11:40.80, Pease finished third.

The field events were highlighted by the long jump and discus events.

On the women’s side, Bre’Yana Wash scored a fifth-place finish behind a mark of 5.89m/19-4 in the long jump. The freshman is coming off a solid indoor season that was capped by a fifth-place finish in the event at the conference’s indoor championships. Teammate Brittany Owens placed sixth on Saturday, leaping to a legal mark of 5.85m/19-2.50.

Nick Kennedy, who continues show strong progress under assistant coach Joe Walker, Jr., earned a 10th-place finish in the long jump. On his second attempt, he registered a leap of 7.11m/23-4 (wind: +1.8). Like Wash, Kennedy also capped his indoor season with a top-eight finish at the league championships.

In the throwing events, Hannah Baker and Rachel Serafin placed in the top 10 of the women’s discus. Baker checked in at No. 7, while Serafin placed ninth. Highly touted freshman Codie Hamsley made his collegiate debut in Alabama, notching an eighth-place finish in the discus on a throw of 49.75m/163-2.



The Cardinals return to action next weekend with the first of three home meets. Louisville plays host to the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational on Saturday, March 29, at the Cardinal Park Track Stadium.
