Junior Joao De Lucca of Louisville was named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week in men's swimming and diving and sophomore Emma Reaney of Notre Dame earned BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honors in women's swimming and diving in the sixth weekly awards of the 2012-13 season.
De Lucca competed in three events at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals. The junior finished second in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle with times of 42.05 and 1:32.57 respectively. De Lucca beat Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte and two-time NCAA champion Clay Youngquist of Texas in the 200 freestyle. He also placed fourth in the 50 freestyle with a school-record mark of 19.61 seconds.
Reaney claimed three first-place finishes at the Ohio State Invitational. The meet featured nine teams that were ranked in the top 25. Notre Dame finished fifth with 440 points. The sophomore posted four NCAA qualifying marks, one NCAA provisional qualifying mark, three meet records and five school records. She took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley with times of 1:00.04, 2:07.60 and 1:55.05 respectively. She also finished fourth in the 400 individual medley with a mark of 4:10.23 and set a meet record in the prelims with a time of 4:08.63. She qualified in the 200 individual medley, 100 and 200 breaststroke and as a member of the 400 medley relay and provisionally qualified for the 400 individual medley.
The 2012-13 Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honors will be awarded throughout the season when at least half of the teams are participating. The next weekly awards will be announced on Jan. 15.

of Louisville has the seventh fastest mark in the country in the 100 freestyle at 43.16 seconds.
Sophomore Addison Bray of Louisville has the ninth best mark in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:55.82.
