University of Louisville rising sophomore Carlos Almeida, representing his native Portugal, swam a lifetime best performance in the 200-Meter Individual Medley with a time of 2:01.76 this morning in Rome at the FINA World Championships.

Almeida's previous best was 2:03.53. He finished ranked 36th overall.

"This is another good day for UofL Swimming," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero from Rome.
