Men's Swimming Has Best Session in Post Season History at NCAA Day Two Prelims

In what head coach Arthur Albiero declared the "best NCAA session in men's school history" U of L had three school records fall and will final in three events at this afternoon's preliminaries at the Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships held on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In the 200-medley relay, the Cardinals qualified 13th and set a school record. Senior Carlos Van Isschot led off the backstroke leg with a school record 21.58, the third fastest split of all the heats. Next in the water was Carlos Almeida in the breaststroke leg, posting a 24.28 split. Pedro Oliveira powered through the butterfly leg in 21.62 and senior Kris Findorff anchored the freestyle in 19.06. "Carlos Van Isschot is the heartbeat of that relay. When he is on, we are all on," said Albiero. In individual events, Carlos Almeida qualified 11th in the 100-breast with a school record time of 53.15 and will swim in the finals tonight. Carlos Van Isschot qualified 11th in the 100-back with a time of 46.64 which is another school record time.
