Men's Swimming Sends Two to A-Finals at NCAA Championship

Two more Cardinals will be in the A-final tonight as Carlos Almeida (200 breast) and Joao De Lucca (100-free) will compete against the nation's top swimmers in Day 3 of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. U of L also qualified a relay in the B-final as well.

In the 200-breast, Carlos Almeida put up the fastest time of the field with a time of 1:52.82, almost three seconds faster than his qualifying time. Kameron Chastain was 27th with a time of 1:58.58.

In the 100-free, Joao De Lucca gained the A-final, qualifying fourth with a time of 42.59. Caryle Blondell was 45th with a time of 44.36.

In the 400-free relay, U of L touched ninth with a time of 2:54.06. Brendon Andrews swam the leadoff leg in 44.49, next in was Caryle Blondell who went 43.84 in his split. Samuel Hoekstra swam the third leg in 43.40 and Joao De Lucca anchored with a 42.33.

In the 200-back, senior Pedro Oliveira missed the B-final by .01 of a second, posting a time of 1:42.58 to finish 17th.

In the 200-fly, Pedro Oliveira boarded a 1:45.51 to finish 24th.
