For the second-consecutive week, Louisville's Therese Bergstrom and Carlos Almeida were named the BIG EAST Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week and BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, respectively. This honor marks the third for Almeida this season.

Bergstrom posted two individual wins last week as the Cardinals defeated Virginia Tech 205-95, while losing to Indiana 181-119 in a double dual meet on Jan. 29. She finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.01 and the 200-yard version in 2:15.59. Her time in the 200-breast was an NCAA B-cut time. The senior also had the fastest split in the 200-medley relay, helping Louisville come in at 1:42.19 for the win and the pool record.

Almeida won three individual events as the Louisville men also split the three-team meet on Jan. 29, beating Virginia Tech 154-146 and losing to Indiana 176-124. He was the only swimmer from all three teams in the double dual meet to win three individual races. The junior finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.08 and the 200 breaststroke in 1:59.99. Almeida also won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:55.71. His times in all three events were NCAA B cuts and his time in the 400-IM was a pool record.
