De Lucca Breaks School Record; Finishes 4th at USA Short Course
Sprinter sneaks in A-final and boards a 19.61

University of Louisville junior Joao De Lucca set a new Cardinal school record when he boarded a 19.61 and finished fourth at the at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships. The championships are being held Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the University of Texas-Austin.

De Lucca actually qualified ninth, for the B-final, but when Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte scratched, it created an opportunity for De Lucca to swim in the A-final. He took advantage and boarded a life-time best and reset the U of L record book.

Competition continues tomorrow with prelim and final sessions.
