Men's Swimming Finishes 4th at SMU Classic

The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team finished fourth at the SMU Classic Saturday night at Perkins Natatorium in Dallas, Texas.

No. 5 ranked USC (327) surged ahead of the top-ranked Michigan (327) in the second day of competition for the upset. Florida (318) was third followed by the Cards (249), Purdue (226) and SMU (223).

U of L's top finish came in the final event when the 200-free relay team touched the wall third in a hotly contested finish with less than a second between the winner and the top five places.

In the first race on Saturday, the Louisville A-relay team of Caryle Blondell 23.28, Kameron Chastain (24.44), Albert Lloyd (22.21) and Joao De Lucca (19.47)combined to post a 1:29.40 for fourth place.

In the 500-free, Albert Lloyd finished sixth with a time of 4:39.03. Samuel Hoekstra posted a 4:34.65 in the B-final.

In the 200-breast, Kameron Chastain was fourth with a time of 2:00.36 in the A-final. Alex Burtch posted a 2:05.64 in the B-final.

In the 200-backstroke, Nolan Tesone touched fifth with a time of 1:47.27 in the A-final. In the B-final, Juan Lopez was fourth with a time of 1:48.16.

In the 3-meter diving, Nikolas Sachs was sixth with a score 235.30.

In the 100-free, Joao De Lucca was fourth with a time of 44.33. Caryle Blondell was second in the B-final with a time of 44.69.

 

 

In the 200-fly, Juan Lopez was fourth with a time of 1:49.06. Albert Lloyd swam in the B-final and posted a time of 1:55.61. In the 200-IM, Nolan Tesone placed fourth with a time of 1:50.15. Alex Burtch boarded a 1:52.27.

The foursome of Caryle Blondell (20.31), Joao De Lucca (19.57), Samuel Hoekstra (19.78) and Kameron Chastain (20.18) combined to post a time of 1:19.24 and a third place finish, just .80 behind the winner.
