Kate continues to be a valuable sprint freestyler for the Cardinals. In 2006-07, she set a lifetime best in the 50-free and the 100-free at the BIG EAST Championship. She set her lifetime best in the 100-fly at the highly competitive Indiana Invitational. As a freshman, Kate stepped right in and began scoring points for the Cardinals. Among her highlights during the dual season include a win in the 100-free versus Eastern Illinois and helped win the 400-free relay races versus West Virginia and Wright State. She helped set the school record in the 400-free relay at the Conference USA Championship in 2005. She comes from the Greater Rochester Racing Raiders program and was coached by Rick Aronberg. She placed ninth in the 50-free and and 11th in the 100-freestyle at NYS High School State Meet. She helped lead Pittsford Mendon High School to a first place team finish and was 2004's captain. She also earned All-American honors and was named Division I Swimmer of the Year for Monroe County.
