Sophomore: As a sophomore Edelen competed in his first BIG EAST Championships as an exhibition swimmer. He swam his season best times at BIG EAST, 20.86 in the 50-freestyle, 45.14 in the 100-freestyle, and went 1:39.39 in the 200-freestyle. At the Purdue Invite, he recorded a 20.95 in the 50-freestyle, 45.27 in the 100-freestyle, and 1:40.07 in the 200-freestyle. He also swam the 100-butterfly at the Purdue Invite in 50.96. Edelen swam the second leg on the 4th place finish, 800-freestyle relay where he split a 1:40.36.
Freshman: Edelen competed at the Ohio Stat Winter Invite, where he turned in his best performances of the season. In the 200-free, he set a new personal best in a time of 1:41.20. He also set a best time in the 100-fly, with a 50.71. He posted a 21.28 in the 50-free and a 45.98 in the 100-free, which were both season best times. In dual meet action, Edelen recorded a fourth place finish in the 100- and 200-free against Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. He also finished third in the 100-free in his first collegiate dual meet against Xavier.
Prep: Kentucky native Rudy Edelen comes to the `Ville from Bowling Green. The Bowling Green High School and Southern Kentucky Swim Club product was a finalist in the 50-yard freestyle at the 2010 Kentucky High School State Meet. In 2011, Edelen took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.75. Edelen also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and was on the runner-up 200-medley relay team along with Harry Griffin, Will Kilgore and Corey Pruitt.
Personal: He is the son of Tim and Mary Edelen. Born Sept. 24, 1992. Major is undecided.
