Freshman: Matthias helped place the 400- and 800-freestyle relays first at the American Conference Championships, and was the runner up in the 200-freestyle. He also took third in the 100- and 500-freestyle events. All of his achievements led to his spot on the All-American Conference team. Matthias provided depth to the relays at the NCAA Championships while helping the 400-free relay squad land a second place finish in the consolation bracket and 10th in the 800-free relay.
Prep: Matthias Lindenbauer hails from Dortmund, Germany where he attended Goethe- Gymnasium Dortmund, and swam for SG Dortmund. In 2012 Lindenbauer won a gold medal in the 50- meter butterfly at German Youth Championships, a silver medal in the 100- meter freestyle, and another silver medal in the 200- meter freestyle. Lindenbauer was a finalist in the 100- meter freestyle at the German Nationals, and took sixth place in the 200- freestyle at Short Course German Nationals. Lindenbauer has also earned multiple medals from the German Youth Championships from as early as 2007.
