Freshman: Buss had a successful first year with the Cardinals. She placed a school record in the 100-back at the 2014 Championship Qualifier with a time of 53.42. She competed at the AAC Championships with a team third place finish in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.58. She also placed fourth in 100-back with a time of 53.99 and sixth in the 200 back in 1:59.39. She was named to the All-Conference squad. Buss had six first place finishes to kick off her Cardinal career. She finished first in the 100- and 200-back at the Michigan Invitational (54.10 and 1:58.00) and at Georgia Tech (57.54 and 2:05.64). She also added first place finishes in the 100-back against Kentucky and in a duel event against Cincinnati and Houston. She was a member of a relay squad that posted a fourth place finish in the consolation bracket at the NCAA Championships with a time of 3:34.26
Prep: Mackenzie Buss joins the Cardinals from Shawano, Wisconsin where she attended Shawano Community High School. Buss swam for her high school and also for Shawano Community Swimming Club where she qualified for her first Olympic Trials at 13. In her junior and senior year Buss earned All- American times in the 100- backstroke, was named a three time Scholastic All- American, Scholastic Athlete, and Athlete of the year as a senior.
Personal: Daughter of Ronald and Nancy Buss. Born October 12, 1994. Major is Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Science.
