Ashley returns to Cardinal swimming action, helping out in the freestyle events. Ashley was redshirted during the 2007-2008 season but while she recovered from surgery, she still played an integral role in the Cardinal family, acting as a volunteer assistant coach and source of support. In 2006-07, Ashley handled much of the distance duties for the Cardinals. She was a finalist in the 1650-free at the BIG EAST Championships. As a freshman, Ashley came to U of L and immediately put her name in the Cardinal record books, setting new marks in the 1000-free against Western Kentucky and the 1650-free at the BIG EAST Championships where she finished eighth. She had a particularly fast meet at the Indiana Invitational where she set three of her lifetime bests. She set her 1000-free mark at the BIG EAST as well. She came to U of L from Freestate High School where she was the captain of Lawrence Aquahawks for Mike Soderling and was a three-time all-league and all-state selection. In 2003, she won the 200-free at the State meet and was fourth in the 500-free in the Sectionals. She was also recruited by Kansas, Colorado State, Clemson and Arkansas. Personal: She is the daughter of Rock Jackson and Cheryl Trenholm. She is majoring in accounting. She was born February 25, 1987.
