As a junior, Travis had a strong showing in the conference championships when he gained the finals in the 1650-free and finished eighth. He also made the consolations in the 400-IM. As a sophomore, he turned in Top 15 times in the 1000-free and the 1650-free. He is known for consistently improving throughout the season, peaking in his times at the conference meet. In 2003, he succeeded to the consolations in both the 1650 free and 400 IM. Travis is a local product from St. Xavier High School where he lettered four years for coach Martie O'Toole. In 2002, he was fourth in the State A long course in the 400-free and the 1500-free. In the high school state meet, he got 11th place and broke the 5:00 barrier, a personal best.
Personal: He is the son of Becky and the late Sam Gray. He was born Aug. 25, 1984. He is majoring in mathematics.
