Louisville student-athletes achieving the feat represent 20 teams.
Sophomore: As a sophomore, O'Neill's breakthrough swim came at the Purdue Invite where she made the A-final in the 100-backstroke with a prelim time of 56.66. Later in finals, O'Neill took eighth in a time of 57.61. She also swam the 200-backstroke in 2:07.35. Her last competed meet was the Purdue Invite. In dual meet action, she took seventh in the 200-backstroke against Tennessee, and swam the backstroke leg of the fourth place finishing 200-medley relay where she split a 28.11. Against Notre Dame, she took 6th in the 200-backstroke in 2:08.04, and she swam a 27.35 in the 50-backstroke on the 200-medley relay that took 5th. O'Neill is also named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Freshman: Emily recorded her best performances on the year at the Ohio State Winter Invite. She posted a 56.69 in the 100-back, 2:06.74 in the 200-back, and a 59.02 in the 100-fly. In dual meet action, Emily often led off one of the medley relays and competed in the backstroke events. She recorded two seventh place finishes in the backstroke events in the meet against Tennessee. Emily was hampered by injury throughout the year and underwent surgery in the spring.
Prep: Backstroker Emily O'Neill resides in Freehold, N.J., and competes for the Freehold YMCA Swim Team. In 2010, Emily was named Asbury Park Swimmer of the Year and has qualified for both the YMCA Nationals and USA Junior Nationals in the 100-yard backstroke (55.65) and 200- yard backstroke (1:59.12). She was a YMCA short course and long course finalist in the 50-free, 100-free, 200-back and 200- and 400-medley relays. She was a two-time state and YMCA state champion in the 100-back in 2010 and earned all-state honors as well as Shore Conference Swimmer of the Year accolades.
