LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville Athletic Department celebrated the achievements of the athletics from the 2010-11 season at the All-Sport Banquet held at the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center. Keynotes speakers were seniors Bergan Foley, Simone Attles and Doug Beaumont.

• The Spring Sport Athlete Award went to D'Ana McCarty and Matt Hughes of cross country/track. A female and male athlete who excelled in a spring sport. Award is announced in June and awarded at the following year All Sports Banquet.

• The CardsCare Award went to Michael Eaton (cross country/track) and Sarah Fiske (rowing) for individuals, with the team award going to Rowing. Awarded annually to a female, male, and team who exemplifies a commitment to community service.

• The Freshman of the Year went to Shoni Schimmel (women's basketball) and Hakeem Smith (football). Awarded annually to a freshman female and a male student-athlete. Freshmen are nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to U of L, commitment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.

• The Sophomore of the Year Award went to Hannah Gadd (diving) and Peyton Siva (men's basketball). Awarded annually to a sophomore female and a sophomore male student-athlete. Sophomores are nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to U of L, committment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.

• The Junior of the Year Award Monique Reid (women's basketball) and Carlos Almeida (swimming). Awarded annually to a junior female and a junior male student-athlete. Juniors are nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to U of L, commitment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.

• The Ed Kallay Award Austen Childs (tennis), Therese Bergstrom (swimming) and Bergan Foley (lacrosse). Awarded annually to a senior female and a senior male student-athlete. Seniors are nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to U of L, commitment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.

• The Central Cardinal Club Leadership Award went to Amanda Simmons (volleyball). Awarded to a female athlete who has shown leadership on and off the field/court.

• The Cunningham Family Leadership Award Drew Haynes (baseball) and Michael Eaton (cross country/track). Awarded to a male athlete who has shown leadership on and off the field/court.

• The Adidas High Performance Athlete of the Year Award went to D'Ana McCarty (track and field) and Colin Rolfe (soccer). Given annually to a female and a male student-athlete regardless of class. Award based solely on athletic performance/achievement.

Athletic Director Tom Jurich also bestowed the Inspiration Award upon Bilal Powell from the football team for his leadership during the transition between coaches and into the successful bowl season.
