Kamari Wooten was named an Academic Counselor at the University of Louisville in August of 2011. He came to the University of Louisville after an eighteen month stint with Alabama State University were he served as an Athletic Academic Advisor for Men's Basketball, Women's Soccer's, Men's and Women's Track & Field, while also serving as the SAAC (student-athlete advisory committee) Advisor.

Kamari is a native of Detroit, MI, and former collegiate basketball player at Kentucky State University and Wayne County CC. Wooten is a member of National Association Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA).

Wooten holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Kentucky State University (2007) and a master's in Sport Management from Eastern Kentucky University (2008).

Kamari and his wife Marnika reside in Louisville.
