Learning Specialist


Stacey Boomershine is in her first year as a Learning Specialist for the University of Louisville Department of Athletics. She assists student-athletes with a variety of academic issues including time-management, organization and study skill strategies. In addition, she helps coordinate care for students with diagnosed learning challenges and provides screening and referrals for those students requiring further educational evaluation. She serves as both student-athlete advocate and liaison for the University of Louisville faculty and the campus Disability Resource Center.

Prior to her arrival at the University of Louisville, Boomershine worked for Wheaton College as the Coordinator of Academic Support and Disability Resources. While there, she provided academic counseling and accommodation services to all students. She supervised support for students with learning and/or physical challenges and for those on academic warning or probation.

Boomershine earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and Education from Ball State University in 1990 and a Master's of Arts in Teaching from Miami University in 1995. She has worked in both the public and private school setting for over 20 years.
