LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual community service project event Tuesday, November 29th when it teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana for an evening of games and activities.

Over 40 student-athletes and 50 children participated in the event which feature a variety of stations as well as had the opportunity to try different sports. The activities included: cookie decorating, holiday crafts, inflatables (obstacle course, joust, soccer), and coloring contests. The children also had the opportunity to participate in sports stations that included: soccer, football, field hockey and an agility/fitness station

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee comprised of two to three student-athletes from each team and is assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience - members are selected by their coaches and teammates. The SAAC offers input on NCAA, BIG EAST, and U of L rules, regulations, and policies. The SAAC also plans a variety of social events and community outreach activities for the student-athlete body.

The SAAC has adopted Big Brothers Big Sisters as its "charity of choice" for the 2011-12 academic year with community outreach efforts focusing on the organization. Additionally, funds collected from the annual student-athlete talent show will go to Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

U of L's student-athletes volunteer with a variety of organizations and causes throughout the year as part of the CardsCare community outreach program. Last year, Cardinal student-athletes accumulated 6,000 service hours.
