The National Champion University of Louisville Cheerleaders and Ladybirds will peform at a free concert by Nappy Roots, a Grammy Award nominated rap/hip-hop group whose members hail from Kentucky, on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Louisville's Waterfront Park.
The Nappy Roots Day Concert, presented by the 100 Black Men of
Louisville, will also feature Chief Robert White as well as performances
by the U of L Cheerleaders and Ladybirds, Verdict Entertainment and Digital Black
Nappy Roots will speak at various schools about the importance
of education throughout the city on September 15. "We have worked with
Nappy Roots before during our Derby Youth Forum and the students went
wild," said Max Maxwell, President of 100 Black Men. "This is a very
positive group of young men, who continue to give back to their
community. They are all members of 100 Black Men of Louisville and are
giving back to the city that has given so much to them."
The group also is also encouraging their fans to vote. Voter
Registration will be available at the event in conjunction with
Collegiate 100 of Louisville. Seating for the event begins at 6:00 p.m.
Attendees for the event will be able to purchase concert merchandise,
food and drink from vendors located throughout the venue.
The event is sponsored by Quality Entertainment Group, 100 Black
Men of Louisville, Verdict Entertainment, Nextel, University of
Louisville Student Government Association, Kentucky Colonels, Collegiate
100 Niche Marketingand Bridgeman Foods.
