LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Nappy Roots, a Grammy Award nominated rap/hip-hop group whose members hail from Kentucky, will peform a free concert on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The Nappy Roots Day Concert, presented by the 100 Black Men of Louisville, will also feature talks from Derek Anderson, Allan Houston and Reggie Theus as well as performances by the U of L National Champion Cheerleaders and Ladybirds.
Nappy Roots will speak at various high schools about the importance of education throughout the city in conjunction with 100 Black Men of Louisville and their mentoring programs. "We have worked with Nappy Roots before during our Derby Youth Forum and the students went wild," said Max Maxwell, President of 100 Black Men. "This is a very positive group of young men, who continue to give back to their community."
Gates open at 7 p.m. for the event. Attendees may enter through Gates 3-8 located on the west side of the stadium.
The event is sponsored by the University of Louisville Athletic Association, University of Louisville's Association of Black Students, Derek Anderson Foundation, Allan Houston Foundation, Full Court, University of Louisville Student Government Association, Kentucky Telco, Bluegrass Hyundai Automotive, University of Louisville Bookstore, TARC.
