LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville coaches and athletics staff members began the first of their three-day "Cardinal Caravan" on Tuesday, a mobile effort to reach out to fans.

Members of the U of L coaching and support staff visited Kroger stores in Bowling Green, Elizabethtown and Valley Station with crowds from 300-500 greeting the group at each stop.

The Caravan will start in Frankfort Wednesday morning before moving to Shelbyville, LaGrange and New Albany, Ind. The final day of the trek begins in Owensboro on Thursday morning with additional stops in Bardstown and Fern Creek.

The Jewish Hospital Healthcare Express, a mobile medical care unit that is on site at many University of Louisville Athletics events, will be on site at selected locations to provide tours for fans in attendance.

Among the U of L representatives appearing at the various sites are football coach John L. Smith, whose other commitments allow him to attend three locations, and men's basketball coach Rick Pitino, who will be present at all sites of the tour.
