LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - Nick Stover has been hired as the Director of Social Media and Engagement, Associate Athletic Director for Development Mark Jurich announced on Monday.

A new position within the athletic department, Stover's role is unique to college athletics and will help the Cardinals achieve further recognition for all sports programming with an advanced online presence.

Stover's primary responsibility will be to assist with the development and implementation of the overall social media strategy across all 23 sports. He will manage online content and branding for the Cardinal Athletic Fund, while assisting with social media efforts within the athletic department.

Starting with the 2012 fall sports season, Stover will provide behind the scenes photos, videos, updates, and promotions regarding U of L athletics.

"We are excited to have Nick join our staff," said Jurich. "His unique skill set and wealth of knowledge in social media will continue to ensure U of L's prominent place within this ever-changing medium. His position will provide great access to our athletic department and provide our fans with unique access to our department."

Prior to joining the U of L staff, Stover served as the General Manager for the Louisville Lightning, a professional arena soccer league franchise. He also taught classes in the Sport Administration program at Louisville, including Sport Marketing, Sport Communication, Sport Governance, and Organizational Behavior in Sport.

Stover graduated from Miami (Ohio) in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in health and sport studies. He earned a master's degree in sport management from Tennessee in 2006 before moving to Louisville to pursue a dual-degree program with a Ph.D. in educational leadership and organizational development, specializing in sport administration and a master's in business administration.
