U of L Athletics Extends Partnership with adidas

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville and adidas today announced a five year extension to their partnership in which the Portland, Ore. based company will supply footwear and apparel for all 23 of the university's intercollegiate athletic programs. The new agreement extends Louisville's partnership with adidas, who has been the official footwear and apparel supplier for Cardinal Athletics since the 2001-02 academic year.
The contract begins with the upcoming 2010-11 academic year and extends through the completion of the 2014-15 seasons.
"We are proud to extend our relationship with adidas," said Tom Jurich, director of athletics, University of Louisville. "They are great partners and we appreciate their expertise in providing our student-athletes and coaches the best and most innovative products available for their development and training."
The University of Louisville's intercollegiate teams and coaches will be outfitted in adidas footwear, uniforms, training apparel, sideline gear and accessories. The Cardinals are a part of a select group of universities that have similar all-school agreements with adidas including the University of Michigan, The University of Tennessee, University of Wisconsin, University of Notre Dame, UCLA, University of Nebraska and Kansas University. In addition, adidas is the official uniform and apparel provider for the National Basketball Association and Major League Soccer as well as a marketing partner with the National Football League.

Cardinal coaches were also excited about the extension of Louisville's partnership with adidas.
"adidas has been a great partner and the performance products they provide for our athletes helps us achieve continued success on the court," said Rick Pitino, men's basketball coach. "They've worked closely with our players and equipment staffs to ensure our players' needs are being met on the court and we look forward to continuing the relationship."
"adidas has been a great partner the last few years as our program continues to gain national prominence," said women's basketball coach Jeff Walz. "We want to be the best and adidas allows us to achieve that by supplying us the best footwear and apparel available."
Louisville fans in Kentucky and across the nation can purchase adidas gear including sideline apparel, coaches' polo shirts, hats, jerseys, performance apparel and outerwear at a wide variety of quality retailers as well as on the official website of the Cardinal Athletics, UofLSports.com.
The agreement includes important provisions that reflect the commitment of both The University of Louisville and adidas to labor and human rights issues. The Social and Environmental Affairs (SEA) team for adidas monitors contract factories for compliance with fair labor and sustainability codes of conduct in order to identify potential problems and implement positive changes. The adidas SEA team provides regular monitoring reports to partner schools.
