June 8, 2004
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
University of Louisville coaches and athletics staff members will make their fifth of six stops in May and June with the "Cardinal Caravan" in an effort to reach out to U of L fans.
"This annual tour is a great way for our coaches to get out and meet the fans that fill our stadium and arenas each season," said Tom Jurich, Vice President and Director of Athletics at U of L. "Each year, the caravan grows and we look forward to some new locations this year. As we make the transition to the Big East Conference, this is one way we can greet and say thank you face-to-face to our many U of L supporters who are extremely excited about this move."
The Cardinal Caravan next moves to Shelbyville, Ky. for a stop at Mike Linnig's Restaurant on Thursday, June 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The caravan kicked off on May 21 at the Cardinal Classic Golf Tournament, an annual event at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. and has also visited Elizabethtown, Ky., Southern Indiana, West Louisville and Shelbville.
Among those scheduled to appear at the free event are Jurich, men's basketball coach Rick Pitino, football coach Bobby Petrino and women's basketball coach Tom Collen.
