Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville student-athletes participated in the first annual Run for the Rosebush on Wednesday, the Kentucky Derby Festival's newest event.

The Cardinals football and field Hockey teams helped out with the Run for the Rosebush on, while head coaches Bobby Petrino and Pam Bustin were the spokespeople along with Wave 3's news anchor Carrie Harned.

Held on the Great Lawn on the waterfront, the event was held to benefit area residents with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

Selected field hockey players served as flaggers for the event (made official aware of any fouls), while football players and field hockey athletes raced through the obstacle course as entertainment for spectators.

The football team stole the show by going undefeated.
