Daytona Beach, Fla. -- The University of Louisville Ladybirds Dance Team won their third national Division IA title today when they finished ahead of Conference USA rival University of Memphis at the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Championships in Daytona. U of L's All-Girl Squad also won its third title in five years with a first place in the National Cheerleading Association Championship.

The championship, sponsored and televised by CBS Sports, was held in Daytona. The Ladybirds finished first with Memphis, Rutgers, Southern California and the University of Kentucky rounding out the top five in that order. The Ladybirds are coached by Todd Sharp and Sheryl Knight.

The All-Girl Squad finished ahead of Florida State and Oklahoma to take the title. The squad is coached by Misty Hodges.

The Louisville Co-ed Cheerleading squad, hoping for its ninth national National Cheerleading Association crown, entered the competition ranked first but finished third behind North Texas and Purdue. Texas Tech and Clemson were fourth and fifth respectively. The Co-ed Squad is coached by James Speed.
